I took career break βπ
It wasn't the paid career break like in the movies or dramas. After resigning from my previous company, I decided to take a little break from my career. Don't worry, I still got a job. I will report for duty to my new company near the end of January 2023. Just to have a little rest and enjoy life after going through hard times.
Why you should take a career break ?
Although this may sound strange for a young guy like me, I feel I just need to rest. Everything is going smoothly according to the plan. Yes, I planned for this a year ago. Preparing some money to pay my notice period was also a part of the plan. So here are the things which we could benefit from a career break based on https://www.hays.com.my/blogs-malaysia/insights/why-you-should-take
1.Recharge your batteries
You may want to use your time to celebrate your career up until now. Content with what youβve achieved in your career so far, your career break could be a useful opportunity to recharge the batteries. After some self-assessment, you will be ready to return to your job with greater focus and determination.
2.Improve your skill set
Learning a language, taking a university course or even improving a sport is of benefit to both you and your employer. Developing yourself in any of these ways will increase your own competence, whilst also making you more of an asset to your employer.
3. Plan ahead
You may choose to use this time to plan for the next stage in your personal or professional life. This could mean reorganising your financial situation, retirement plans, parenthood ambitions, and so on. Our careers are often so demanding that we are rarely afforded an opportunity to sit down and consider the next chapter.
Is it wasting your time ?
It is not considered a waste unless you are doing something for your future. There are many things I have planned to do, most of which are related to my career.
1.Practicing leetcode
LeetCode is a famous platform where you can sharpen your data structure and algorithms skills. Here you can also learn from other's best and optimized solutions .
2.Play around with ChatGPT
This is very interesting. After OpenAI released their beta API for ChatGPT, a lot of people, especially developers, tried to do something with it. So, I came up with something simple using Vite and OpenAI API. Below are some of the linear algebra questions that I asked ChatGPT. I was very shocked; it can solve and give solutions, even if they are a little bit different from the books.

To conclude, taking care of yourself is much more important than anything else. If you feel the need to rest, then go for it; there is nothing to lose or be wrong about. It is for your own good.
